Prepaid Card Can Help You Build Your Credit Score

Card Art
I heard from Crowdtap that American Express has a new prepaid card that helps you build your credit.

They are targeting recent graduates, etc. Which brings back memories, American Express was my first credit card in college, lol.

Although credit cards can be scary, I can see where it would be good to build your credit in case you ever want to buy a house or car someday.

Check it out here and maybe you can rate "like" to help one of my charities, "Invisible Children" at the same time:
(No, I don't get paid to talk about American Express either, lol.)

President Thomas Jefferson Can Help In Your Homeschool

Homeschool Freebie of the Day: has an interesting-sounding free PDF ebook download today: "THE 7 KEYS RE-BOOT (PDF ebook) by Oliver & Rachel DeMille

As Jime describes it: "This is an EXCELLENT ebook is based on the authors’ “A Thomas Jefferson Education” books for helping your students when they face learning challenges. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"

From the introduction:

Read the 7 Keys Re-Boot each time you or your student faces a learning challenge. Read with your student and her current learning challenge specifically in mind. Write your thoughts and ideas that come as you read, and then apply them."

Who couldn't use some help facing challenges, once in a while? I'm going to check it out. I imagine it could help in a brick and mortar classroom too :)

Free Videogame Featuring Turtles and Magic Today Only...Hurry!

Turtix screenshot
I've always thought turtles are cute. So today's Game Giveaway of the Day. Today: Turtix: sounds like it might be fun.
If you don't mind things with magic in them, and maybe even if you want to reward your homeschooler or other student for doing that science project about turtles, here's how the site describes it:
"Turtix. A charming new hero is born! Help Turtix to rescue his friends and collect the scattered pieces of the magic amulet."
Turtix didn’t know what would happen when he tried casting a powerful spell without the supervision of his teacher. When he lost control of the magic and it shattered an amulet that maintained peace and harmony throughout his world, he thought the worst had happened. Then he learned dark forces had invaded five islands and kidnapped all of the young turtles from the School of Magic! Determined to set things right, the brave and commendable Turtix set out to rescue his friends and collect the scattered pieces of the amulet.

Help The Sierra Club: Protect CA's Central Coast

FLD_CA Otters
Protect the earth's wild heritage and designate CA's Central Coast a National Marine Sanctuary! Believe me, I know firsthand how gorgeous it is and how it warrants protection!

Home to some of our most vulnerable wildlife, the Central Coast is threatened by toxic, chemical-laden runoff and the expansion of oil drilling. The southern sea otter, western snowy plover, and hundreds of other species are at risk.

We can't let polluters continue to recklessly endanger wildlife and foul our waters in the name of profit! Designation as a National Marine Sanctuary will shield this section of coast from continued industrial pollution while encouraging its study and sustainable use.

Tell the San Luis Obispo County Supervisors that our Central Coast must be granted National Marine Sanctuary status!"
I am for sure.

Free Ebook: Creating Your Personal Life Plan | Michael Hyatt

Creating a Life Plan Cover
I found out from following the "Blissdom" posts some (boy, do I wish I could be there :) ) that Michael Hyatt is giving this cool book away for free.
Here's a little of how he describes it:

"most people spend more time planning a one-week vacation than they spend planning their life.

I believe that this is why so many people end up discouraged, disillusioned, and wondering what went wrong. They arrived at the wrong destination.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way. You can live your life on purpose by creating your own personal life plan."

You can’t buy Creating a Personal Life Plan in a bookstore. In fact, you can’t buy it anywhere on the Internet. There’s only one way to get it—by subscribing to his FREE email newsletter.

18 Free Colorful Geography Fact Cards About Landforms For Homeschool Etc.

Butte...how do I tell the difference...
Ever heard that proclamation from a child, albeit with the different "but" implied?
These visuals ought to help. And yes, I spelled "but" wrong on purpose, forgive me for being punny on occasion, lol.

As 2 Dynamic Moms put it "Do you know your butte from your isthmus? At the very front of the text it has physical land form pictures with their names as a reference. So I created these land form fact cards that helps any age be able to memorize the physical landforms."

Wow I love the freebies on this homeschooling blog. I'm going to print these on nice white cardstock when I can get some, AND when I can afford the ink, lol. Meanwhile, I downloaded the great PDF and it'll be great to play these with the kids:

To Learn About My Excess Backside or Tickle My Funny Bone, that is the Question

I like Dr. Oz. I've learned a lot from many of his shows. I wish it weren't on at the same time as Ellen since I don't have access to a DVR :( I was gonna forgo Ellen today because Dr. Oz is about being overweight and Lord knows I can use that, but I've got to admit it's so depressing to hear how I should get rid of my large posterior even though Dr. Oz always does it in a nice way)

I read and listen to quite a bit about getting healthier. I know I need to do it, and hey, I've even lost some weight lately. But the way today's been going, I need some laughs instead. So I'm switching to the Ellen show today again. No, I probably won't learn anything important. But I'll probably see her help somebody and make them happy, which makes me happy. Plus I'll laugh at something silly, probably.
So even though I was watching the Dr. Oz show just now and I should still be, I guess, hey, I need some laughs instead today Ellen!. :) (She makes me laugh a lot lately, now that I've started watching her more often.)

I mentioned my Battle in My Brain about What to Watch Just Now on GetGlue.com and somebody actually thought it was funny, yay. "I think you burn calories while laughing, so it's all good. Get up & dance while you watch her. :-) " they said to me.

I agree! Great idea! Who doesn't need to get up and dance? Or at least dance and move more in my seat with my mobility woes. :)

Thanks for the laughter and heartwarming stories, Ellen.

So Many Smores Recipes, So Little Time!

Inside-Out S'mores
Yum. So many new ways to make Smores! They had a chef from the French Culinary Academy today on The Nate Berkus Show and wow, chocolate and marshmellows are so much fun. :) (I'd leave out any cinnamon though 'cuz I'm allergic,)
As I said on "GetGlue", "So glad Nate is leaving the recipes for them on thenateshow.com my youngest would love love these recipes for "smachos", "smores chocolate chip cookies" and upside down smores!

Free "Island of the Blue Dolphins" Project Pack for Homeschoolers etc.

"Hands of a Child" has some marvelous homeschool products, so this freebie is especially exciting to me. My daughter loved this book, for instance, as did I. So I can't wait for my younger kids to read this book and use this resource as soon as possible. :) "Island of the Blue Dolphins." Hooray!
