We're Greater Than AIDS so we Rock the Red Pump today and March 10

We're Greater Than AIDS so we Rock the Red Pump:

The Red Pump Project
Today (and tomorrow), we are proudly rocking our red pumps in commemoration ofNational Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (March 10th). As you put on your favorite pair of red pumps or flats, we hope that you remember that this about more than making a fashion statement. It’s about women uniting to demonstrate Awareness is Always in Style.

We continue to be motivated by your support, honesty, and candor around the topic of HIV/AIDS in women and girls. This morning, we’ve had the chance to read many of your blog posts and view your photos and we have yet to stop smiling. While we love your styles, that’s not why we’re smiling… We’re smiling because in your own fashionable way, you are telling the world that you aren’t afraid to talk about HIV and that you are standing with your sisters who have been infected and affected by this disease.

Every 47 minutes, a woman will be diagnosed with HIV in the United States. Our hope is that you take today’s call to action to heart and continue to boldly and fiercely take the necessary steps to educate yourselves, protect your bodies, and advocate for your decisions.

Happy “Rock the Red Pump” Day!

We were provided with a suite of The Red Pump Project > AIDS badges and we can’t wait to showcase on our blog! Click here to read more about the Greater Than AIDS campaign and what they are up to for NWGHAAD.

Take Charge. Take the Test.

Of the total number of new HIV infections among women, 57% were among black women, 21% were in white women, and 18% were in Latina women. To increase testing and knowledge among African-American women, the CDC is launching its Take Charge. Take the Test. campaign in 10 cities across the country. To learn more, click here.

We'd love to see the red pumps (or flats, or sneakers) that you have on today and tomorrow. Post pictures of them on the Red Pump Facebook page!

As always, we're so thankful for your support and for joining us in the fight against HIV/AIDS!

P.S. We're on Pinterest now!
