Free Pirate Roll a Word 2 Dice Learning to Read, Homeschool, etc.

Learning Ahoy has a really cute pirate-themed printable freebie you can make into a great dice learning game right now. It was designed for a first-grader, but could be made suitable for any age elementary on up depending on the words used, I imagine.
     It's the "Pirate Roll a Word 2!" I have always thought that combining games into learning helps so much and makes learning fun and more memorable, especially for hands-on learners like my youngest son. He also happens to enjoy pirates because his dad loves pirate stuff, so this is a fun find for us I thought you would enjoy too.

Dr. Seuss Marathon Today and Info/ideas for Any Day

I just realized there is a Dr. Seuss Movie marathon on ABC Family (it's Channel 180 on DISH Satellite TV, and we're in Pacific Time here)today!. Right now it's "The Lorax" and following will be the animated short classics, "The Cat in the Hat" and the Grinch Grinches..." and then the super funny Jim Carrey movie, "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
     I'm going to use them for lessons too. If you read this after they air, though, don't fret. You can still catch most all of them here:

This ebook has recipes in it that I think would be great for more than just Halloween. I plan to use some for Science classes and possibly others, too. For instance, the bats would be good to go with an Animal Science Homeschool or other lesson on bats. The test tube drinks would be fun gross additions to a Science study on blood or chemicals, etc.

Alaska is such a beautiful state. I visited years ago by cruise with my grandmother and I will treasure the memory forever. So when we study Alaska in homeschool, I'll have those memories and photos, plus this guide I'm sending for.      My son and I in homeschool have been working on books HE writes, (he's 8) Sometimes, like earlier this week, he told me the story out loud and I typed it in for him. We added a cover and illustrations and printed it out into a "real" book and it's exciting for him and a great keepsake. So it's never too early to start kids on writing!
